Directory filtering runs in your browser. Optional Google Analytics is used only after you choose Accept Analytics. Directory search terms and quote documents are not intentionally sent to Analytics. No advertising tags have been added. Access authentication is managed by the hosting platform, which may process access and technical information under its own arrangements.
Company Information
Listing descriptions, business contact details and service areas are sourced from company websites. Links take you to third-party websites with their own privacy arrangements.
Before Enquiries Open
The directory operator is Lucking Utility Services Ltd. See the quote-review and application privacy information below for how submissions are handled.
Cookies and External Services
Google Analytics (property G-PF8M9T5JCM) measures page visits, traffic sources, company-profile views, company website clicks and email-link clicks after your consent. An email click is not a confirmed enquiry. Google may process online identifiers, device/browser information and approximate location, including processing outside the UK under its applicable safeguards. We disable advertising personalisation and Google Signals in our tag configuration. Analytics cookies are configured for up to 180 days. Your choice is remembered on this device for 180 days. Use Cookie Settings in the footer to accept or reject analytics at any time; rejection stops collection and removes accessible Analytics cookies. Withdrawal does not undo earlier processing. Blocking cookies or declining analytics does not affect directory access. For information about Google’s processing, see Google’s privacy policy. Hosting may process technical/security logs separately. For privacy questions or rights requests, email hello@waterengineersdirectory.com.

Quote Reviews & Company Applications
Lucking Utility Services Ltd, operator of the National Directory of Water Engineers, is the controller of personal information submitted through these forms. Contact hello@waterengineersdirectory.com about privacy or your information.
What We Collect and Why
We collect your name, email address, work location postcode, relevant project or company information, declarations and any document you choose to upload. We use this to respond to the request, assess an application, check evidence and conflicts, and keep a record of our decision. Do not include bank details, identity documents, health information or unrelated personal information. Submission is voluntary, but the required contact and project/company details are needed to handle your request. Decisions about applications are made by a person, not solely by automated processing. We do not use submissions for marketing without a separate lawful basis.
We rely on our legitimate interests in handling requested advice, assessing specialist directory applications, protecting the service and keeping appropriate records. Where applicable, we also process information to take steps at your request before entering a contract. Acknowledging this notice is not consent to marketing.
Private Access and Conflicts
Submissions and uploads are held in a private register restricted to the authorised NDWE owner account. They are not published automatically, circulated to listed companies or used to coordinate prices. NDWE is operated by a listed contractor, Lucking Utility Services Ltd. Quote reviews are not independent valuations; a conflict involving the operator must be disclosed and a comparative review declined where the operator is competing for the work.
Hosting, Notifications and Security
Our website platform and its hosting providers process information to store and serve the register. Records and files are stored using Cloudflare database and object-storage services through Sites. Access uses ChatGPT sign-in and an owner-only permission check. OpenAI and Cloudflare act as service providers for the hosted website and storage. Their infrastructure may process data outside the UK; see OpenAI’s data processing terms and Cloudflare’s data processing terms for the applicable transfer safeguards. You can request further information from our privacy contact. Notification emails, when enabled, contain a submission reference and a link to the private register, not the submitted document or customer details.
A necessary first-party form-session cookie lasts up to one hour and helps protect form submissions. Short-lived rate-limit records use a keyed digest of the connection address, rather than storing that address in the submission register. Hosting providers may separately retain security and access logs. Form answers, email addresses, document contents and reference numbers are not sent to Google Analytics. With analytics consent, we record that a quote-review request or application was successfully submitted.
Directory Location Searches
When you submit a location search, our server sends the place name or postcode to Postcodes.io to identify its area. It does not send your name, email or form contents. Lookup results may be cached for 24 hours. Enter only a place or postcode, not a street address or personal information. Northern Ireland place names are matched against a locally stored GeoNames extract; UK postcode lookup includes Northern Ireland.
Retention and Your Rights
Active requests are reviewed at least every six months. Our policy is to delete closed submissions and uploaded documents within six months of closure, unless a complaint, legal obligation or other documented reason requires longer retention. Directory evidence needed for an approved listing is subject to separate ongoing review; information is not published without the listing assessment process.
You may ask for access, correction or deletion, or object to or request restriction of processing, subject to applicable limits. Email the address above and quote your reference if available. You can also raise a concern with the Information Commissioner’s Office.
